In a statement released by Paul Odenyi, Deputy Director, Communications and Media, the NOA described children as the nation’s “hope, strength and future” and extended congratulations to them on the occasion.
Observed annually on May 27, Children’s Day highlights children’s welfare, rights and development and reaffirms the shared duty of government, parents, educators, religious bodies and society to protect and educate them. The NOA’s Director-General emphasized that a nation’s strength depends on the values instilled in its youth and stressed the importance of providing quality education, safety, healthcare, guidance and enabling environments for every child.
The agency encouraged children to stay committed to learning, discipline, patriotism and moral excellence as they prepare for future leadership. It warned against crime, drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime and violence, and urged young people to adopt integrity, hard work, creativity and national unity. Strengthening civic responsibility and reorienting values among youth remain central to the NOA’s mandate, and the agency said it will continue intensified public enlightenment in schools and communities. Finally, the NOA praised parents, teachers, caregivers and development partners for their efforts in raising children despite ongoing socio-economic challenges.
