According to the NUPRC data, Nigeria’s crude oil production fell by 4% to an average of 1.505 million barrels per day in July 2026, but remained slightly above the country’s OPEC quota of 1.5 million bpd for the third consecutive month. Including 0.17 million bpd of condensate, total average daily output stood at 1.67 million barrels, down from 1.7 million bpd in June.
The commission attributed the decline to operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo fields, which disrupted production. Despite the setbacks, combined crude oil and condensate output peaked at 1.78 million bpd during the month, while Forcados recorded the highest terminal production at 322.34 thousand bpd, followed by Bonny and Qua Iboe.
NUPRC said production at other assets remained largely stable, with operators taking steps to sustain efficiency and minimize disruptions. It stressed the need for stronger asset management, faster intervention and improved operational resilience across Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector.
