The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially approved City University Abuja to operate as a private postgraduate institution, clearing the way for it to launch academic programs and admit its first set of postgraduate students in the 2026/2027 session.
NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu presented the operational license at a ceremony in Abuja on July 24, 2026. He commended the university’s promoters for meeting the Commission’s strict licensing requirements and stressed the importance of sustaining quality in teaching, research, administration and infrastructure.
Following the approval, City University Abuja announced the commencement of admissions into its pioneer postgraduate programs, which are designed to combine academic research with industry-focused learning.
