In mid-November 2025, the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), led by Husseini Shaibu, convened the 5th Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference (NDCRC). Themed “From Volume to Value: The Future of the Nigerian Motion Picture Industry in the Digital Age,” the two-day gathering attracted filmmakers, guild officials, lawyers, industry stakeholders, and journalists. Panels sparked vigorous discussion and produced many recommendations; but critics, including Culture Custodian, asked whether the debates would translate into real-world change.
Responding to that concern, the NFVCB has launched a follow-up program: the NFVCB Masterclass Series. Announced as a practical offshoot of the NDCRC, the inaugural masterclass aims to equip practitioners with hands-on skills and industry know-how to boost professionalism and long-term sustainability in Nigeria’s film and audiovisual sectors. Shaibu said the series answers participants’ call for more detailed, actionable training on issues affecting creators, producers, distributors, and digital entrepreneurs.
The first master class takes place on July 13, 2026, and focuses on three priority areas identified by stakeholders: legal issues (led by Sandra Oyewole), monetizing films and digital content (led by Adetutu Laditan), and production standards and best practices (led by Femi Odugbemi). The sessions are designed to deliver immediately usable guidance. Participation is open to accredited members of guilds and associations under the Federation of Registered Nollywood Guilds and Associations via their guilds; other interested individuals may register for invitations.
