The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the 2027 election schedule, setting January 16, 2027, as the date for presidential and National Assembly voting.
National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna, who chairs the Information and Voter Education Committee, shared the news Thursday in Abuja via a press statement.
This decision followed detailed internal reviews and strategic preparations to deliver a seamless, transparent, and well-managed election nationwide. The revised timeline designates January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly polls. Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are now slated for three weeks afterward, on Saturday, February 6, 2027.
