The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) have called for stronger cooperation with the Taraba State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to advance environmental conservation, climate resilience and sustainable development across Taraba State.
During a courtesy visit to the ACReSAL office in Jalingo, NESREA’s Taraba State Coordinator, Mr. John Twasshue, highlighted the agency’s mandate to enforce environmental laws, regulate activities affecting environmental quality and implement international environmental agreements ratified by Nigeria. He emphasized that stronger institutional partnerships and information sharing are vital to improving environmental governance.
In response, Taraba ACReSAL State Project Coordinator, Dr. Yakubu Giwa Clement, reaffirmed the project’s readiness to partner with NESREA, explaining that ACReSAL is a multi-sector initiative focused on environmental restoration, watershed management, climate resilience and sustainable agriculture. He noted that the project has completed interventions in three micro-catchments and is expanding to ten more across the state to tackle environmental degradation and protect natural resources.
