The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have deepened its cooperation with the Republic of Liberia to promote regional maritime integration, capacity building, and the development of Africa’s blue economy. Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola welcomed Liberia’s Honorary Consul, Dapo Akinosun, at NIMASA’s headquarters in Lagos and described the meeting as evidence of the long-standing, mutually beneficial maritime relationship between the two countries.
Mobereola emphasized the need for greater maritime collaboration among African nations to unlock the continent’s marine potential, expand the blue economy, and create opportunities for young Africans in the global maritime industry. He also thanked Liberia for backing Nigeria’s successful bid for a Category C seat on the International Maritime Organization, noting the productive history of bilateral maritime ties.
Akinosun said his visit aimed to reinforce Nigeria–Liberia relations and boost maritime cooperation. He praised NIMASA’s efforts to reposition Nigeria’s maritime sector for sustainable growth and investment, and said Liberia is eager to work more closely with NIMASA on maritime administration, safety, capacity development, and trade promotion to advance Africa’s blue economy.
