Rear Admiral Olumide Fadahunsi of the National Hydrographic Agency visited the management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to reinforce cooperation between NIMASA and the National Hydrographic Agency.
Rear Admiral Olumide praised NIMASA’s dedication to maritime safety and promised continued hydrographic support, noting that wider use of locally produced nautical charts and hydrographic communications would boost navigational safety, maritime security, and the management of Nigeria’s waters. He further emphasized that hydrography is vital to maritime safety and national development and that closer agency collaboration would help sustain growth in the maritime sector.
NIMASA Director General, Dayo Mobereola responded by saying that the agency is focusing on strengthening Maritime Safety Information systems, tightening enforcement, and investing in ongoing capacity building to improve hydrographic services. He reiterated that cooperation among maritime institutions is crucial for safer, more efficient waterways and affirmed NIMASA’s commitment to initiatives that raise operational standards and foster the sector’s growth.
