The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS7.1 FCT Sector Command in Abuja, in collaboration with Bolt, recently wrapped up a road safety training program for over 100 of its driver-partners and couriers. The program forms part of a broader effort to strengthen awareness among professional drivers and reduce avoidable road incidents.
The sessions, led by FRSC officials, covered essential topics like responsible driving, traffic law adherence, fatigue and drunk driving prevention, defensive techniques, speed limits, seatbelt use, and safe overtaking.
Bolt’s Head of Regulatory and Policy, Africa, Weyinmi Aghadiuno stressed that safety extends beyond tech, with this partnership providing drivers practical skills for Nigeria’s roads to build confidence for all users. Insights from Bolt’s prior Safety Perception Survey revealed two-thirds of respondents see ride-hailing (app-based services for summoning rides) as key to curbing drunk driving.
FCT Sector Commander, Corps Commander Felix N. Theman, praised the effort, calling road safety a collective duty and urging ongoing education to cut crashes. The interactive program included presentations, Q&A, and open discussions on regulations.
Both Organizations highlighted how public-private ties boost safety through awareness and compliance, with Bolt pledging continued work with authorities and communities nationwide.
