The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) have jointly rolled out enhanced cyber-security measures to protect Nigeria’s digital infrastructure following a recent incident affecting some sections of the CAC’s systems.
Both NITDA and CAC said they have now activated coordinated responses and assurance mechanisms aligned with the National Cyber-security Policy and Strategy 2021 to safeguard government platforms and ensure service continuity.
NITDA has further directed all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to urgently strengthen their cyber-security frameworks. This includes conducting thorough security audits, fixing vulnerabilities, tightening access controls, and improving data protection, backup, and disaster recovery systems. MDAs are also expected to deploy better monitoring tools and establish effective incident response processes, including timely reporting of breaches.
According to NITDA, these measures aim to enhance the strength and overall security of public sector digital systems, while reinforcing ongoing efforts to protect national digital assets and support agencies in adopting best cyber-security practices.
