The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) said Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production increased marginally by 0.4 per cent to 1.68 million barrels per day (bpd) in August 2026, from 1.67 million bpd in July.

According to the regulator, combined output rose to 1,677,777 bpd, while crude oil production alone reached 1,500,190 bpd, equivalent to Nigeria’s Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota of 1.50 million bpd. NUPRC attributed the improvement largely to the resolution of Single Buoy Mooring operational challenges at the Erha field, which helped restore normal production and evacuation activities.

Despite the increase, August output remained below the 1.74 million bpd recorded in June, the highest monthly level between March and August. Bonny and Forcados terminals recorded the highest average production during the month, with 320.04 kbpd and 317.40 kbpd, respectively.

NUPRC said most producing assets remained stable as operators worked to improve efficiency, protect asset integrity and reduce disruptions. It added that continued collaboration among industry stakeholders and the timely removal of operational bottlenecks would be critical to sustaining production growth.
