The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 33 postgraduate programs for Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), following a successful resource verification exercise. The approval was communicated in a letter dated June 15, 2026, signed by Abubakar Girei, the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning.
The sanctioned programs spanning postgraduate diplomas, master’s and PhD degrees cover humanities, social sciences, management sciences, education, natural and environmental sciences, communication and technology. Specific areas include Accounting, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Architecture, Music, Theatre Arts, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Microbiology, Physics and Food Science and Technology.
Reacting to the NUC’s decision, BOUESTI’s Vice‑Chancellor, Prof. Andrew Omojola, called the approval a landmark for the university’s academic growth, saying it underlines BOUESTI’s readiness to provide quality postgraduate education, research and innovation. He credited the university’s management, staff and stakeholders for meeting the NUC’s verification requirements and thanked the Visitor — Governor Biodun Oyebanji — the governing council, Senate and others for their support.
Omojola said the programs will commence in the 2026/2027 academic session and will expand opportunities for advanced learning, capacity building and cutting‑edge research while contributing to national development and addressing contemporary societal challenges.
